How does motion detection work?

Motion detection is an important tool for securing your business or building. It alerts you when someone is on your property that isn't authorized. Understanding how this technology helps you set up better motion detection regions and alerts. The camera refers to motion detection as an "alarm". In the camera's "Task Management" menu you can select what you want the camera to do once there is an alarm or once a certain time period has elapsed.

All motion detection is generally done by the camera analyzing the video and noticing any changes in the video. Any change is considered motion, but you can set up areas on the screen to consider or ignore for motion detection, and you can determine how much change in video should trigger the "motion detected" condition and should result in recording or emails.

The Phylink camera has four motion detection windows which can configured easily on your browser. These four windows are all scalable, and configurable for sensitivity.
